caroCryptonet Started in 2022 the project Storage Metrics DAO
It aimed to improve the quality of decentralized storage providing onchain metrics for storage providers which are realistic and objective.
Rewarding providers based on these metrics would make rational for them to provide high standard quality of service.
In practice, the aim was to design and implement a protocol which consists in a collective of “auditors”, nodes that scan the network and honestly report summarized statistics on-chain.
The project got paused given the absence of a proper scanning tool for the network which was needed for auditors to scan the network.
The first milestone for the project to be revamped is to have a scanning tool which can allow auditors to gather metrics about SP quality of service.
Interestingly, other teams in the organization got interested in building such tools, even if for targeted scopes (i.e. not for the entire filecoin network…yet).
One of those projects is Validation Bot.
After presenting the original project we'll go over the work that Validation bot is doing, as well as discussing next steps towards expanding their work in the future.
